Nothing could be more blissful than a young couple on their wedding day — until a mysterious old man appears. With an innocent kiss, whole worlds are turned upside-down, as the bride and the old man switch bodies, with craziness and comedy as a result! Will the groom be able to figure out what’s wrong and make it right again before it’s too late?
East West Theatre is bringing love back to Shanghai with a delightfully endearing production of Prelude to a Kiss. Often described as a “grown-up fairy-tale,” it’s the perfect romantic comedy for February sweethearts or anyone who needs to be reminded that love is truly the greatest magic in the world.
Written by Craig Lucas, this Tony and Pulitzer-nominated play was also turned into the hit 1992 film starring Meg Ryan and Alec Baldwin…
If you can’t believe your eyes, trust your heart!
.. but it’s roots can be traced to the HIV/AIDS crisis in the late 80s. Lucas wondered how love could survive if someone’s body could be transformed into something unrecognizable. This central question challenges us even in our modern times: How can you tell if the person you fell in love with really is the person you fell in love with?
