Take a break from the summer heat and enjoy a night at the theatre with EWT’s evening of short plays, featuring:
Tennessee Williams’ Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen directed by W.M. Butler
A man and woman are bound together in an endless cycle by hopeless poverty. Through Williams’ poetic language we are drawn into the world of these two people who – even though they are on their last legs – love each other more than anything.
David Ives’ Sure Thing directed by Christy Shapiro
We start at a chance meeting of two disparate characters, Betty and Bill. Their conversation is continually reset through the ringing of a bell every time one of them responds negatively to the other, until eventually they become a perfect match.
Sure Thing has just returned from a successful tour of the Wuzhen Theatre Festival)
David Ives’ Universal Language directed by Dave Earl
Dawn, a shy woman with a stutter, wants to learn a new language to escape her loneliness. Don, the founder of the School of Unamunda, starts teaching her the universal language. With every new word Dawn becomes more confident…and gibberish turns into poetry. Don and Dawn come to understand each other…but is Unamunda really a language?
